Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom are negotiating the introduction of a direct flight between Tashkent and Manchester. This route is intended to facilitate business and leisure travel and expand transit opportunities.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom, Ravshan Usmanov, met with Reece Whalley, Director of Corporate Affairs at Manchester Airports Group. The main topic of discussion was the launch of a direct flight between Tashkent and Manchester.

The British representatives emphasized that Manchester Airport is one of the largest transportation hubs in the United Kingdom and Northern Europe. It serves over 32 million passengers annually, and its infrastructure allows this figure to be increased to 70 million in the future.

The meeting participants agreed that the active development of Uzbekistan's aviation industry and the expanding capabilities of national airlines create favorable conditions for the launch of a new international route. Manchester Airports Group believes that direct flights will strengthen business and tourism ties between the two countries and enhance Uzbekistan's role as a transit hub between Europe and other regions. The company expressed its readiness to support Uzbek airlines in the project.

The parties agreed to continue working together on the organizational issues necessary for the launch of flights.

Background: Manchester Airports Group is the largest airport operator in the UK. The company manages Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands airports. In 2025, the group's airports handled 54 million passengers, and its contribution to the country's economy exceeded £8 billion.
