Tajikistan and Central Asian countries checked compliance with water limits for the irrigation season.
On August 6, Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, participated in the 94th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia. Tajikistan and the Central Asian states conducted an inspection of compliance with established water use limits for the irrigation season.
On August 6, Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, participated in the 94th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia. The event took place in Turkestan, Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the countries reviewed the implementation of previously approved water withdrawal limits and reservoir operating regimes in the Syr Darya and Amu Darya river basins for the 2026 irrigation season.
No new limits were approved at this meeting. They were agreed upon in April at the commission's previous meeting, which was held in Bukhara.
The total water withdrawal limit for the Syr Darya River for the season has been set at 11.884 billion cubic meters.
Of this volume:
* Tajikistan has been allocated 1.905 billion cubic meters,
* Uzbekistan – 8.8 billion cubic meters,
* Kazakhstan – 909 million cubic meters,
* Kyrgyzstan – 270 million cubic meters.
As for the Amu Darya River, 39.772 billion cubic meters of water have been allocated for the period from April 1 to October 1.
Tajikistan's share is 7.052 billion cubic meters,
Turkmenistan's – 15.5 billion cubic meters,
Uzbekistan's – 16.02 billion cubic meters.
An additional 2.1 billion cubic meters are allocated for the Amu Darya Delta and the Aral Sea.
