Shavkat Mirziyoyev Attends Funeral Events in Qatar
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Qatar to attend mourning events for former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and held talks with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, traveled to the State of Qatar to partake in mourning ceremonies following the passing of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
During his visit, Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at Lusail Palace. At the beginning of their discussion, the Uzbek president conveyed his heartfelt condolences regarding the death of the Emir's father.
Mirziyoyev remarked that Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani had played a crucial role in Qatar's progress, the execution of extensive socio-economic reforms, and the enhancement of the nation's international reputation. He also emphasized the former Emir's contribution to fostering amicable relations and comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar.
The Uzbek president acknowledged that Qatar currently plays a vital role in fostering peace and stability in the region and enjoys a prominent position on the international stage.
During their conversation, the two leaders explored opportunities for further reinforcing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Qatar, broadening bilateral collaboration across various fields, and shared perspectives on ongoing regional and global matters.
In response, the Emir of Qatar expressed gratitude to Mirziyoyev for his personal visit and appreciated the supportive words and condolences, highlighting the significance of Uzbekistan's gesture of friendship during this time.
At the end of their discussions, Mirziyoyev extended an invitation to the Emir of Qatar to visit Uzbekistan at a mutually agreeable time.
As part of his itinerary, the Uzbek president also participated in the mourning ceremony honoring the former Emir of Qatar. After concluding his schedule, Mirziyoyev departed from Doha back to Tashkent.
