Rihanna is 'in the studio', says partner A$AP Rocky

The singer, who last released a full album in 2016, is in the studio and "cooking", her partner said.

Rihanna's partner, A$AP Rocky, has indicated that the artist is currently "in the studio," potentially signaling an end to her album drought spanning nearly a decade.

Speaking on The Jason Lee podcast on Wednesday, the rapper confirmed, "She in the studio right now." While details about the project remained scarce, he did dismiss the idea of a collaborative double album with Rihanna. When pressed about a potential new album, he added, "she cooking."

The Barbadian singer and beauty entrepreneur, whose birth name is Robyn Fenty, has not released a full-length album since "Anti" in 2016.

Podcast host Jason Lee questioned A$AP Rocky, "Are you the reason we don't have an album?" referencing the couple's three children and Rihanna's travel commitments. The rapper refuted this, asserting that the singer was indeed creating new music. "Yeah I said it, sorry babe," he continued, anticipating that he would "get in trouble for this." No further information about the potential music was disclosed during the interview.

In February of last year, Rihanna expressed "really optimistic" feelings about a new album. She told a Harper's Bazaar reporter, "I feel like I've finally cracked it, girl!" She also stated, "I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more."

Since her last album, Rihanna has released several singles, including some tied to film projects, such as 2022's "Lift Me Up" for "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." She has also established multiple successful businesses, including her Fenty Beauty makeup line and a lingerie company. Forbes estimates the 38-year-old's net worth to exceed a billion dollars.

During the interview, A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, declined to comment on whether he and Rihanna are married.
