Nurabad District Initiates Ambitious Pistachio Cultivation Project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – A comprehensive project for intensive pistachio cultivation is underway on state-owned reserve land within Nurabad District.
Adiz Boboyev, the Governor of Samarkand Region, recently visited the Nurdom mahalla to assess the project's advancement and inspect the newly established pistachio groves. The Samarkand Region administration confirmed details of his visit.
During his inspection, the regional governor directed officials to progressively expand the cultivation area.
Boboyev outlined plans for 2,000 hectares of pistachio plantations this year, with an additional 3,000 hectares slated for the following year. Ultimately, the total cultivated area is projected to encompass 20,000 hectares.
Boboyev emphasized that the scope of the project extends beyond mere tree planting.
He stated that the plantations are to be meticulously maintained until they reach fruit-bearing maturity, at which point they will be transferred to local residents. These residents will then be empowered to manage the groves, generate income, and market their harvests. He further instructed officials to rigorously adhere to all agronomic standards and approved planting methodologies.
The initial phase of this project is anticipated to generate employment opportunities for 500 local inhabitants. Each worker will enter into a contract, assuming responsibility for 10 hectares of pistachio plantations.
As reported by the regional administration, the project's core objectives are job creation and ensuring a consistent income stream for residents.
