Man charged over intercepted bomb in car

The man in his 40s is due to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice on Saturday.

A man has been charged in connection with an explosive device that was discovered inside a car in the Republic of Ireland. The vehicle was stopped on Wednesday on the N2 highway near Carrickmacross, as part of an operation targeting alleged dissident republican activity. The individual, who is in his 40s, is slated to appear before a special sitting at the Criminal Courts of Justice on Saturday evening. This development follows the charging of a 25-year-old woman on Friday in relation to the same incident. The bomb was located a short distance from the Irish border.
