Kazakhstan, Japan explore expansion of academic and scientific cooperation

Kazakhstan and Japan are exploring avenues to broaden their academic and scientific collaboration.

Sayasat Nurbek, Kazakhstan's Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Japan, held a meeting with Takaya Ohashi, the Rector of Tokyo Metropolitan University. Their discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in higher education, scientific research, and academic exchanges.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan reported that the meeting primarily addressed the potential for strengthening educational and scientific ties between Kazakhstan and Japan, with a specific emphasis on expanding university partnerships.

Attendees explored possibilities for increasing inter-university cooperation through shared educational and research endeavors. They also examined strategies to boost academic mobility, encourage exchanges among faculty and researchers, and foster direct partnerships between higher education institutions in both nations.

Furthermore, the discussions encompassed opportunities for joint specialist training, collaborative research, and the execution of academic projects involving universities from Kazakhstan and Japan.

During the meeting, Minister Nurbek extended an invitation to Rector Ohashi to attend the Strategic Partners Forum, slated for November in Astana. The ministry anticipates this forum will serve as a platform for discussions on expanding international university partnerships and identifying new areas for collaboration.

The meeting concluded with both parties reiterating their commitment to ongoing academic and scientific cooperation and expressing their willingness to move forward with joint educational and research initiatives.
