A man has been detained in Bukhara after promising an applicant 26 million soums to secure admission directly to the fourth year of a medical program.

In the Karakul district of the Bukhara region, law enforcement officers detained a citizen who offered an applicant 26 million soums to secure admission directly to the fourth year of a medical program at the Bukhara Innovative University of Education and Medicine. To carry out his plan, he intended to use false documents and claimed to have connections among high-ranking officials.

According to the Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, the suspect, having gained the victim's trust, claimed to be able to produce forged documents confirming his first through third year of study at a higher educational institution in Kazakhstan. Using these documents, he claimed, he could secure a transfer directly to the fourth year of an Uzbek university.

The man was detained while receiving the 26 million soums. The sum was seized and added to the case as evidence. A criminal case has been opened in connection with this incident under articles relating to attempted fraud and incitement to bribery. Investigative measures are currently underway.

Previously, medical workers in the Samarkand and Khorezm regions were detained for promising assistance in obtaining disability benefits in exchange for a monetary reward. Criminal cases have also been opened in both cases for fraud and bribery-related offenses.
