Georgia Seeks to Strengthen Ties With Central Asia
Georgia plans to further develop political and trade-economic relations with Central Asian countries, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
Georgia Aims to Fortify Central Asian Connections
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced at a recent government meeting that Georgia plans to enhance its political, trade, and economic relationships with Central Asian nations.
Kobakhidze emphasized the significant political and economic value of collaboration with countries in the region for Georgia. He highlighted Georgia's crucial role as a connector, providing seven countries with access to the Black Sea and subsequent routes to Western markets.
The Prime Minister affirmed the government's commitment to ongoing efforts to cultivate relations with Central Asian countries, reinforcing both their political and economic dimensions.
Reflecting on international engagements in 2026, Kobakhidze recalled his official visit to Kazakhstan in June, which resulted in the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two nations.
He also noted that Georgia and Uzbekistan elevated their relationship to a strategic level during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Tbilisi.
Furthermore, the Georgian Prime Minister undertook official visits to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in June, where numerous bilateral agreements were formalized.
In July, Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited Georgia. This visit concluded with Tbilisi and Ashgabat signing a series of documents designed to broaden cooperation across various sectors.
