From August 9, banks will sell up to $500 without a passport.
According to a departmental document registered with the Ministry of Justice, when purchasing up to $500 in foreign currency in cash at banks, it is no longer necessary to present a passport, ID card, or other identification documents.
On August 9 of this year, a departmental document (registration number 2886-12, dated May 8, 2026) came into effect, allowing banks to sell up to $500 in foreign currency without a passport. Previously, the limit on undocumented currency purchases was $100. The Ministry of Justice emphasizes that implementing such initiatives aimed at improving convenience for citizens is one of its priorities.
