Former NFL star Tony Romo arrested for driving intoxicated
Romo was arrested outside Milwaukee on Thursday night, and arrested after performing poorly on field sobriety tests.
Tony Romo, the former standout quarterback for the NFL's Dallas Cowboys, has been taken into custody on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to police reports.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office stated that Romo was pulled over in Wisconsin on Thursday around 18:00 local time (23:00 GMT). His arrest followed an unsatisfactory performance on field sobriety tests. He was released later that same night and has been ordered to appear in court on September 21.
Romo currently works as a football commentator for the broadcaster CBS, which has not yet commented on his arrest. Local media outlets indicate that this is his first offense related to operating a vehicle while intoxicated. If found guilty, he faces the potential suspension of his driver's license and a requirement to pay a fine.
