The first video footage of Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has been released by the Mehr news agency. The video, released on August 8, shows Mojtaba Khamenei talking to a group of people. However, it did not provide information about when and where the video was filmed, nor who the people in the footage are.

The video may have been released to dispel various speculations about Mojtaba Khamenei's health. He replaced his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US and Israeli airstrike on February 28. Due to injuries sustained in the attacks and security concerns, Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen in public until now.

He also did not attend his father's funeral in July. Khamenei's three sons, Mustafa, Maysam and Massoud, were present at the funeral. The late leader was buried at the Imam Reza shrine on the night of July 10.

Currently, US and Israeli intelligence services are working to determine the location of Mojtaba Khamenei, whether he is alive or not. It is noted that the supreme leader has not used a phone, has not used a computer for about 150 days and has been hiding in a secret shelter.

“Mojtaba may not be using a phone, he has other methods of communication, for example, small pieces of paper,” said Rami Igra, former head of the Mossad department.

According to him, the Iranian government uses a multi-layered network of couriers to deliver information to the supreme leader. Couriers, without knowing the essence of the letter, simply deliver it from hand to hand. Igra noted that the only realistic way to contact the Iranian supreme leader is to hire an agent who is in contact with him. However, everyone around Khamenei is subject to extremely strict scrutiny.

On August 7, Israeli media reported that Mojtaba Khamenei was in “extremely critical condition.” His current whereabouts and ability to lead the country have been questioned. Despite the lack of video messages or audio messages from Mojtaba Khamenei, his statements are being disseminated by Iranian state agencies.
