Drone carrying explosives found at German airport, police say
The drone was found in the cargo area near a Ukrainian aircraft before another suspected object collided with a cargo aircraft in mid-air.
An explosive-laden drone has been discovered at a German airport, according to police.
Saxony police reported that a robot was dispatched to Leipzig/Halle Airport after the device was located in the cargo operations area during the night. Some accounts indicate its proximity to a Ukrainian aircraft.
Authorities also stated that a second unidentified object struck a cargo plane shortly after its departure from the airport. The aircraft was rerouted to Hanover, where minor damage was observed.
Initially, flights at the airport were halted following the drone's detection. However, one runway has since been reopened, while the airport's second runway was not scheduled for use on Wednesday.
