Competition Committee issues serious warning regarding biologically active additives
These products are used in the treatment of diabetes, stroke, gastritis, cardiovascular, liver, kidney, arthritis, hypertension and other diseases.

The Competition Committee has issued a serious warning regarding biologically active supplements (BAS).
Recently, advertisements for BAS, ointments, salves, balms, tinctures, and mineral waters that treat various diseases have been widely distributed in the media and social networks. In some cases, these products are promoted as effective means for treating diseases such as diabetes, stroke, gastritis, cardiovascular, liver, kidney, arthritis, and hypertension, giving consumers the wrong idea that they are medicines.
However, according to the conclusion of the authorized bodies, the main function of BAS is to satisfy the body's daily need for nutrients, they are not considered medicines and are not intended for the treatment of diseases. Therefore, interpreting BAS as a remedy and exaggerating their healing properties is contrary to the requirements of current legislation.
In accordance with Article 35 of the Law "On Advertising", advertising of biologically active additives and food additives should not contain the following:
* Not create the impression that they are a medicine or have therapeutic properties;
* Not refer to cases of treatment or improvement of people's condition;
* Not contain expressions of gratitude or recommendations from citizens;
* Not encourage refusal of healthy eating;
* Not create the impression that the product is superior to medicines through research or information about state registration;
* In each case, it must be accompanied by a warning stating "This product is not a medicine."
We remind you that financial sanctions may be applied for violation of the requirements of the legislation on advertising. The Competition Committee urges advertisers and distributors to strictly comply with legal requirements and not to disseminate misleading or unfounded information to consumers.
