Banking hub finds new home in historic building
The service in Brigg will move from its temporary location to The Buttercross.
A permanent location has been secured for the banking hub in a North Lincolnshire market town, with The Buttercross selected as its new home.
The banking service in Brigg is set to relocate from its current temporary spot at The Angel to The Buttercross. North Lincolnshire Council announced that it collaborated with Cash Access UK to secure the site, with renovation work slated to commence next month.
Council leader Rob Waltham emphasized the importance of the hub, stating: "Brigg is a busy, successful market town which serves a much wider rural community. Thousands come into the town to shop, work, visit the markets and use local services, so maintaining access to cash and face-to-face banking here really matters."
He further noted the council's commitment to preserving these services: "While the major banks have increasingly chosen to withdraw from High Streets, we have been determined to do what we can to protect access to these services for residents and businesses."
The hub will offer cash access and in-person banking, with various bank representatives available on specific days. The council confirmed that the temporary hub will continue operations until the new site is ready.
