Bail requested for Tate brothers

Andrew and Tristan Tates, British and American citizens, were arrested in Miami on July 18 on a "secret warrant" and their lawyers asked a US judge on August 7 to release the brothers on bail. Reuters reported.

The Tates are due to be extradited to Britain on charges of rape, assault and aiding and abetting human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Their lawyers have filed a petition in Miami federal court calling for their clients to be released. In particular, they argued that the brothers are "too famous" to flee and should not be held in custody pending extradition proceedings.

"It would be very difficult for Andrew or Tristan to travel incognito or to remain unnoticed," the lawyers said.

They are asking for the brothers to be released on bail on the condition that they surrender their passports and monitor their whereabouts. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami is expected to respond to the request by August 10. Judge Lewis has set a hearing on their release for August 13.

Prosecutors have previously told the judge that the brothers should be held in custody because they are a flight risk and pose a danger to society. Britain must submit a full extradition request to the U.S. State Department by September 16.

Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate have previously faced rape and human trafficking charges in Britain in connection with three alleged victims. A judge issued warrants for their arrest in January 2024, but the brothers have not appeared in a British court to testify on the charges. Britain is seeking to extradite the Tates to face both sets of charges.

**Charges against the Tate brothers in Romania**

In 2022, the Tate brothers were arrested in Romania on charges of human trafficking and defamation and were later placed under house arrest. In the summer of 2023, they were released from house arrest, but remained under police supervision.

According to Romanian authorities, the Tate brothers formed a criminal network in 2015 that recruited women to participate in video chats and forced them to create pornographic content for sale on paid platforms. The investigation also alleges that one of the brothers had sex with a 15-year-old girl in 2020, and that the girl was also used to make pornographic materials.

In 2024, the brothers were arrested again in Romania on charges of sexual assault. In 2026, their judicial supervision was lifted.

**Tates' visit to Uzbekistan**

On April 4, Andrew Tate X posted a video on his social media page showing his arrival in Uzbekistan. The video shows him being greeted at Tashkent International Airport with the blare of trumpets and a golden robe, the ultimate symbol of Uzbek hospitality.

This "respect" was not warmly received in the Uzbek segment of social media. Such lavishness for a person accused of serious crimes has caused sharp criticism. There is no official information about who organized the visit of a person facing serious international charges and for what purpose.
