At least 25 people killed in Algeria bus crash
Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb has visited the hospital where some of thoe injured have been taken.
A passenger bus accident in Algeria on Friday has resulted in the deaths of at least 25 individuals and left dozens more injured, according to local officials. The incident occurred near Boumerdes, a coastal town situated east of the capital, Algiers, when the bus overturned.
The nation's civil protection department has stated that the reason for the crash remains undetermined. Those who sustained injuries have been transported to local hospitals for medical attention.
Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb visited the scene of the accident, where the overturned coach was visible at the base of a ravine. He engaged with emergency service personnel during his visit.
This incident follows two other fatal bus crashes in Algeria last year. In August, 18 people died in a bus accident near Algiers, as reported by AFP. Later, in December, 14 individuals lost their lives when their bus overturned in the southern Bechar region.
According to Algerian road safety authorities, traffic accidents last year claimed 3,838 lives and caused injuries to over 37,000 people.
