Another fraudulent scheme involving promises of fictitious employment abroad has been disrupted in Uzbekistan.

New cases of citizens being defrauded under the guise of assistance in finding employment abroad have been recorded in Uzbekistan. The perpetrators promised victims travel to Dubai, Moldova, and Belarus for work, but after receiving the money, they failed to fulfill their obligations.

The first incident

occurred in the Ellikkala district of Karakalpakstan. Officers from the Department of the Prosecutor General's Office established that an individual misled three people by promising them employment assistance in Dubai and Moldova. Under this pretext, he received $2,000 and 4 million soums from the victims.

Another similar case was discovered in the Yangihayot district of Tashkent. According to the investigation, the head of one of the firms and his accomplices promised to arrange a job transfer to Belarus for a citizen, citing alleged connections in the Migration Agency. The suspects were caught red-handed receiving $500 and 1.2 million soums.

Criminal cases have been opened for both cases under articles of fraud and attempted bribery. The investigation is currently underway.

Previously, a major scam involving promises of employment in South Korea was uncovered in Tashkent. Two suspects demanded $55,000 from a man, promising, through alleged high-ranking contacts, to arrange work for him and obtain a residence permit.
