Agrobank Buys 40.14 Billion Soums in Mortgage Bonds

Agrobank purchased 40.14 billion soums worth of mortgage bonds in the second exchange transaction under Uzbekistan's mortgage market development programme.

Agrobank has acquired mortgage bonds valued at 40.14 billion soums in the second such exchange transaction on the Uzbekistan Stock Exchange (UZSE). This placement aligns with the presidential decree (No. UP-26) issued on February 21, 2025, which outlines additional measures for advancing Uzbekistan's housing and mortgage market.

The transaction was executed via a private placement with Agrobank. The mortgage bonds themselves were issued by UMRC SPV LLC, a company established under the Uzbekistan Mortgage Refinancing Company JSC.

Organizers of the placement stated that this event signifies the ongoing, phased implementation of the mortgage bond issuance mechanism as stipulated by the presidential decree.

They further explained that the phased issuance of mortgage bonds aims to cultivate the market for mortgage-backed securities, broaden the availability of long-term financing, and introduce contemporary financial instruments into Uzbekistan's mortgage lending sector.
