A Pension Fund employee was caught taking a bribe in Namangan.

A Pension Fund employee has been detained in Namangan on suspicion of bribery.
According to Podrobno.uz, the chief specialist of the Namangan city office of the off-budget Pension Fund was detained while receiving $200 and 4.8 million soums. The money was intended as compensation for assisting two individuals in obtaining old-age pensions and increasing their pension payments.
According to investigators, the suspect agreed with the individuals to assist in obtaining and increasing their pensions. He was caught red-handed while handing over the money by officers from the Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
A criminal case has been opened against the detainee on charges of preparation for a crime and fraud. The investigation is currently ongoing.
As a reminder, Uzbekistan has a proactive system for assigning pensions and disability compensation for groups I and II, which does not require citizens to personally apply to government agencies. Similarly, compensation for persons with Group I visual impairments and other categories of citizens will also be assigned automatically.
