New system aimed at ensuring product safety is being introduced
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The 18th plenary session of the Senate considered the Law "On General Product Safety".
Today, globalization processes in the world economy, the rapid development of e-commerce, the expansion of cross-border trade and the increase in the variety of products require completely new approaches in the field of product safety.
This Law is aimed at radically reforming the technical regulatory system in our country, ensuring product safety and effectively protecting consumer rights.
The Law was developed in accordance with the requirements of the World Trade Organization's Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade and international best practices.
All products placed on the market must be safe. Manufacturers, importers and economic operators are directly responsible for product safety.
Economic operators are also being given specific obligations to assess product risks, maintain technical documentation, identify products, take into account consumer complaints, and withdraw dangerous products from the market.
The law introduces a new risk-based mechanism for market surveillance, and establishes a national information exchange system for the rapid identification of dangerous products and their withdrawal from circulation.
According to the senators, the law serves to protect the life and health of the population, increase the competitiveness and export potential of domestic products, as well as bring our country's technical regulatory system into line with international standards.
In addition, a legal framework is being created to guarantee the safety of products entering the domestic market, protect consumers from dangerous products, and strengthen their confidence in the market.
At the end of the discussion, the senators approved the law.
