Senate holds meeting with US State Department representative
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodiq Safoyev met with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Samir Paul Kapoor.
During the talks, the current state of relations between Uzbekistan and the United States and prospects for their future development were discussed.
During the conversation, it was noted that in recent years, the partnership between the two countries has reached a qualitatively new level. The importance of effectively using existing opportunities to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation was noted.
Samir Paul Kapoor highly appreciated the large-scale economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, as well as the policy aimed at strengthening good neighborliness, mutual trust and regional cooperation in Central Asia.
During the meeting, the US delegation was provided with general information about the activities of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the role of parliament in the life of the state and society, as well as work to ensure the legal basis for the reforms being implemented.
